  • AN INITIATIVE PROMOTED BY LEADING SPANISH FASHION DESIGNERS, ITS AIM IS TO CREATE A PLATFORM THAT PROMOTES AWARENESS OF AND CONSUMPTION OF SPANISH DESIGNER FASHION THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.

The Principality of Asturias and Madrid es Moda join forces in Madrid es Moda, a project that is reinventing itself to support and revitalise Spanish designer fashion after Covid-19. The aim of Madrid es Moda is to create a communication platform to promote national and international awareness and consumption of Spanish designer brands under the Slow Fashion umbrella, an essential part of ensuring the industry’s rapid recovery after the pandemic.

Madrid es Moda will promote, in the long term and using different approaches, those aspects that make our industry unique: brands with soul, designer strategies committed to a new kind of luxury based on teamwork, craftsmanship, local production, responsible consumption, quality, recovering skills and traditions. Madrid es Moda will be a space for meeting and promoting national brands that defend slow fashion as the basis of a fashion philosophy for the future.

It is an initiative promoted by the Spanish fashion community, with the participation of Spain’s leading designers, including the Asturian designers RELIQUIAE, MARCOS LUENGO, MARÍA LAFUENTE and MIGUEL MARINERO, and also ANGEL SCHLESSER, BEATRIZ PEÑALVER, BRAIN & BEAST, DEVOTA & LOMBA, DOLORES CORTÉS, DOMINNICO, DUARTE, EDUARDO NAVARRETE, ERNESTO NARANJO, FELY CAMPO, GARCÍA MADRID, HELENA ROHNER, JC PAJARES, JV for JORGE VÁZQUEZ, LEANDRO CANO, MALNE, MOISÉS NIETO, OLIVA, OTEYZA, PERTEGAZ, PILAR DALBAT, ROBERTO VERINO, TERESA HELBIG, THE EXTREME COLLECTION, ULISES MÉRIDA and 44 STUDIO.

Teresa Vigón, general manager of Sociedad de Promoción Exterior Principado de Asturias S.A., says: “Asturexpromotes Asturian designer brands with the goal of giving them greater visibility at events with international exposure. As part of this, we are supporting Asturian designers Miguel Marinero, Marcos Luengo, María Lafuente and Reliquae at ‘Madrid es Moda’, one of the sector’s leading events. In this way, Asturex can offer support at any stage of the project for internationalising brands, both in the initial process of positioning, and when they are seeking to consolidate and access new markets.”

Madrid es Moda kicked off this September with two initiatives that have completed the MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK MADRID fashion show programme.

On 7 September, it launched a pioneering online sales project with a careful selection of Autumn/Winter 20/21 garments by 17 designers from Madrid es Moda that allows iconic pieces to be purchased until November. This initiative was born out of the Association’s alliance with Es Fascinante, which is the first online store to bring together the country’s leading fashion designers on a single platform.

And in order to encourage local consumption, from 7 to 13 SeptemberMadrid es Moda organised exclusive experiences with the participating brands. At small-scale events, the designers introduced their new collections for sale for the autumn/winter 2020-2021 season, and also small capsule collections and iconic garments from their collections. In addition, Oliva, JV by Jorge Vázquez, Roberto Verino and 44 Studio showed new collections, and The Extreme Collection, their collaboration with Pelayo Díaz. Individual appointments were arranged at which attendees could interact closely and safely with Spanish fashion designers. Consumers will be able to acquire these items from Es Fascinante or on the websites of the designers themselves.

Madrid es Moda is led by the Spanish Fashion Designers’ Association – Asociación Creadores de Moda de España (ACME) – under the Madrid Capital de Moda umbrella and with the support of the Madrid Business Forum (Foro de Empresas por Madrid). As an active member of the international #REWIRINGFASHION movement, it is one of the representatives, through ACME, of the world council of slow fashion.

ABOUT MADRID ES MODA

MADRID ES MODA, part of Madrid City Council’s Madrid Capital de Moda programme, is a project that seeks to promote Spanish designer labels, position them globally and offer them new business opportunities. It is an initiative that the Asociación Creadores de Moda de España (ACME) has hosted every two years since September 2015 to coincide with each edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid (MBFWM), and its aim is to revitalise the Spanish designer fashion trade by bringing the work of the sector’s designers and craftsmen and women closer to the final customer and promoting Madrid as a leading capital in the world of fashion.

MADRID ES MODA is reinventing itself for its September 2020 edition with the aim of becoming an on and off platform where designer fashion brands can show and sell their current collections to the end consumer. This project brings together Spanish designers who defend the values of the slow fashion movement, a fashion philosophy for the future associated with the values of sustainability, responsibility and commitment.
